Who We Are

In partnership with the Bayside Rowing Club, Toronto Police, and the Viking Boat Races and Festival, we are the Eric the Red Rowing League for Kids.

Bayside Rowing Club was founded to provide rowing to the Toronto community with a specific emphasis on underprivileged, inner-city kids.  Since 1993, with a lot of blood, sweat and tears, we have managed to raise over $3 million for our kids through innovative programming and revenue-generating initiatives.  These are some of our accomplishments as a club:

·         4 World Rowing Championships 1997, 1998, 1999 (Emma Robinson) and 2003 (Barney Williams)

·         2 Olympic Silver Medals (Emma, Atlanta 1996, Barney Williams, Athens 2004)

·         1 Olympic Bronze Medal (Emma, Sydney 2000)

·         4 Pan Am Games Gold and Silver Medals (1999, 2007)

·         2 Commonwealth Gold Medals (1999)

·         1 Inner-city youth rower graduated Princeton University on a full scholarship

·         3 Inner-city youth rowers graduated Harvard University

·         Only deaf kids rowing program in North America

2007 saw over 400 inner-city kids taking up rowing in an exciting partnership with the Toronto District School Board and the GTA Boys & Girls Clubs.

Viking Boat Races and Festival will be putting on it’s 5th annual event this year. In it’s 5 years it has acted as a fun filled way to generate funds and raise the profile of the program. The festival has grown to include many fun activities and spectacles such as tug-o-war, viking re-enactments, kids zones and so much more!
